MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Subject Leader – MR GARDNER
Modern Foreign Languages at Perry Hall
At Perry Hall, Modern Foreign Languages is focussed on learning Spanish through activities that support speaking, listening, reading and writing. Through the use and support of Language Angels, pupils are exposed to native speakers in lessons to ensure accurate pronunciation and they have regular opportunities to engage with Spanish-speaking cultures too. Our curriculum focusses largely on day-to-day, practical language that pupils are likely to use when travelling or meeting Spanish speakers themselves. Throughout all lessons, fun, creativity and an emphasis to ‘give it a go’ are always encouraged!
By the time our children leave us, our aim for them is to be enthusiastic, curious linguists who have developed a knowledge of a Modern Foreign Language and an appreciation, and potentially even an aspiration, for cultures beyond their own.
WHY IS MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES IMPORTANT TO OUR CHILDREN?
Year 3 Child
We like to learn a new language so we can talk to new people. It helps us understand if we visit.
Year 5 Child
If we got to a different country, we can communicate with them and learn about their culture.
